Sweet Success!

Aldegundo Garza Muriga with his pack of White Deer Kennel bred Treeing Walker Coonhounds, Plott "Billy Blazes", and the LION!
No one has worked harder, nor has been more successful than Aldo with his hounds. He bought his first pup, a Walker female, from us in September 2007 and later added two more Walkers, male and female, and a Plott male.
Starting with these "green" pups, Aldo has religiously worked and trained his dogs, sometimes as many as four and five days week. He began with putting a "handle" on them, teaching them to lead, load, follow, and to know and understand what NO meant. His dream was to build a pack of "top drawer" cat hounds and after just a year of dedicated training and hard work his opportunity came to prove up his effort.
He received a call from a rancher acquaintance telling him that a lion had been killing some horses on his ranch. Aldo assured him that he could catch the villain and that he should call him immediately on finding a fresh kill. Sure enough the call came some few days after and Aldo and his hound pack responded accordingly. He took the dogs straight to the kill, then some hours old. The dogs struck off the kill immediately and started working the track. After several hours running and tracking though some of the nastiest thorn scrub in North America, the dogs finally brought the big fellow to bay.
Toughened by hard training and seasoned by many, many long hours in the field, the dogs withstood the pain and rigors of being subjected to being "punctured" through and through by cactus thorns, mesquite thorns, among other nasty thorn bearing plants.
Congratulations to you Aldo, for your dedication and hard work in making a fine lion pack from those tiny little fellows, that were barely weaned when the left our kennel.
