from

White Deer Preserve

Including "Terms and Conditions"

When you decide to purchase a Black & Tan Coonhound from White Deer Kennel, you are not just buying a hound! You are getting the best genetics that we know how to provide for specific hunting requirements and/or show challenges. Also, you are getting a hound that is well socialized and healthy! A happy, healthy hound is a dog that will work for you and give you the best performance in the field, bench, and show ring up to their maximum genetic potential.

bullet

Before mating takes place, we monitor the prospective parents for optimum health and breeding condition.  Our husbandry includes booster vaccinations and persistent worming before whelping as indicated; based on our laboratory monitoring for specific parasites, together with optimum nutrition intake and exercise. Maternal antibodies are passed in the colostrum milk when the pups are whelped and they first begin to nurse. We want the pups to receive the maximum antibody levels possible through the colostrum. This is accomplished through booster vaccination of the gyp.

bullet

Once a gyp is bred and we are certain that she is gravid, we post this information on this web site, detailing the pedigree of both parents and what we perceive the outcome will be for the particular mating.

bullet

Pups are priced individually based on heritage (genetics), gender, and specific individual characteristics. Interested parties please contact Courtney Burkett at (713) 817-1320 or courtney@whitedeerpreserve.com .

Reserving Your Pup: Depending on the expected litter size, we accept reservations for up to eight (8) puppies; Four (4) females and four (4) Males. Once the litter is whelped and stable (at about one week of age) we will then make adjustments for the number of puppies and sex ratio. This information will be posted on the website for each expected litter and updated as deposits are received. Verbal and email reservations for your hound will be held for a maximum of 72 hours, pending receipt of payment. NOTICE TO BUYERS: Buyers get to pick their pup or pups based on the date order their deposit is received.

Health Considerations:

bullet

We use the best vaccines, wormers (Anthelminthics), nutrition, and nutritional supplements available in the market place today.

bullet

Pups are vaccinated with the appropriate choice of vaccines at 8 weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks, 6 months, and 1 year.

bullet

We "worm" as indicated. This means that we don't just "worm", just to be worming! We routinely monitor our pups and adult dogs for all parasites, both internal ("worms") and external (fleas, ticks, etc.). Further, we just don't "shotgun" worm our dogs, but rather use specific anthleminthics (wormers) for specific infections, based on our laboratory findings. The practice of "shotgunning" only makes parasites more resistant to future treatments. Heartworm preventative measures are started at an appropriate age and dogs are monitored for micorfilaria.

bullet

Before breeding, our females are checked for Canine Brucellosis to maintain a SPF (Specific Pathogen Free) Brucellosis Kennel.

International Shipments:

bullet

A United States Department Agriculture (USDA) - Animal Plant Health Inspection Service Veterinary (APHIS) International Health Certificate (APHIS Form 7001 [Aug 2001]) is required for all international shipments. International Health Certificate cost is $100.00 per dog. The USDA-APHIS Endorsement fee for each animal is $38.00; additionally, should the importing country require that a FAVN-OEI Rabies Titer Test be completed, the the USDA-APHIS Endorsement fee is $76.00, plus a test recording fee of $4.50 for each animal. All International Health Certificates (APHIS Form 7001 [Aug 2001]) (and all associated requisite export documents) must be submitted to the USDA-APHIS Export Office in Austin, Texas for endorsement, and then returned to us to accompany the shipment. This process normally takes about 5 business days. These costs do not include USPS overnight mail service and return to veterinarian; estimated to be an additional $40.00.

bullet

Although International Health Certificates (APHIS Form 7001 [Aug 2001]) are valid for 30 days from date of issue, the Airlines require that the certificate not be more than 10 days old from date of issue at time of shipping.

bullet

International buyers should plan ahead and have their air cargo shipment arrangements made well in advance of the tentative shipping date. If it becomes necessary for us to send an International Health Certificate (APHIS Form 7001 [Aug 2001]) to the USDA-APHIS Export Office via overnight mail and return, an additional charge of $40.00 per certificate will be made for this service; if it becomes necessary for us to send an International Health Certificate (APHIS Form 7001 [Aug 2001]) to the USDA-APHIS Export Office via courier to "walk it through", there will be an additional charge of $300.00 per certificate.
